We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Math tutor to help high school students improve their performance across the various Math subjects such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, and mainly SAT Math. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the Math concepts listed above, proven tutoring experience, and the ability to teach and aid students towards content mastery.
This role involves providing 1:1 and small-group tutoring sessions to prepare students for their respective classes and build their confidence, efficiency, and overall test performance.
Duties
- Conduct one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions focused on their respective subjects/classes
- Teach effective test-taking strategies, pacing techniques, and question analysis skills.
- Assess students’ strengths and weaknesses to create targeted, personalized tutoring plans.
- Develop and deliver structured lesson plans aligned with College Board (i.e., AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, SAT Math) and/or Common Core (i.e., Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry) standards and score improvement goals.
- Help students strengthen core academic skills while improving accuracy and speed.
- Track student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure measurable improvement.
- Foster a supportive, motivating learning environment that encourages questions and active participation.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress, goals, and areas for improvement.
- Occasionally conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions with adult learners who are seeking support with Algebra and/or Geometry.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with high school students in an educational or tutoring setting.
- Proven tutoring experience or strong familiarity with College Board or Common Core standards.
- Ability to clearly explain complex concepts in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students of varying learning styles.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to break down questions logically and strategically.
- Familiarity with common challenges students face on standardized tests.
- Patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping students achieve academic success.
- Comfortable teaching multiple Math subjects (Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, and SAT Math).
