Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in patient registration, documentation, and initial nursing assessments.
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic consultations and diagnostic tests.
- Administer prescribed eye drops (e.g., pupil dilation drops, anesthetics) as per protocol.
- Support ophthalmologists during OPD procedures such as minor interventions, IOP measurements, and fluorescein dye tests.
- Educate patients about post-procedure care, medication usage (especially eye drops), and follow-up instructions.
- Ensure proper sterilization of ophthalmic instruments and maintain aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patient flow and manage OPD appointments to reduce waiting times.
- Handle ophthalmic equipment like slit lamps, tonometers, and visual acuity charts.
- Maintain accurate nursing records, consent forms, and patient care documentation.
- Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout the OPD visit.
- Report any patient complaints, abnormal findings, or incidents to the nursing supervisor promptly.
Qualifications & Experience:
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Registered Nurse with State Nursing Council.
- 1–3 years of nursing experience; prior experience in an ophthalmic or outpatient setting is preferred.
- Freshers with strong interest in ophthalmic nursing may also be considered for junior positions.
Skills Required:
- Good understanding of ophthalmic terminology and outpatient procedures.
- Basic knowledge of administering ophthalmic medications and handling relevant instruments.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, doctors, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to multitask and manage high-volume OPD workflow efficiently.
- Compassionate attitude and strong patient care orientation.
- Familiarity with hospital management systems and basic computer usage.
