Operations Manager – Data Centre (2GW Campus)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead operations across a large-scale, mission-critical data centre campus (2GW) supporting high-performance compute infrastructure.

This is a hands-on leadership role at the centre of a 24/7 environment, overseeing multi-disciplinary teams across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and facilities functions to ensure uptime, safety, and operational excellence.

You will work closely with engineering, construction, and specialist contractors to support commissioning, expansion, and continuous improvement across a rapidly scaling infrastructure environment powered by renewable energy and designed for high-performance computing.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Lead day-to-day operations across a large data centre campus
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and facilities
• Foster a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
• Provide clear leadership in a 24/7 mission-critical environment

Reliability & Uptime

• Ensure continuous uptime of critical infrastructure systems
• Manage response to incidents, alarms, and outages
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Maintain performance within reliability and design targets

Maintenance & Asset Management

• Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programmes
• Ensure accurate CMMS, work orders, and asset tracking
• Conduct field verification and maintenance quality checks
• Drive operational efficiency and asset reliability improvements

Commissioning & Expansion

• Support commissioning, energisation, and cutover activities
• Partner with engineering and construction teams on site expansion
• Ensure operational readiness of new infrastructure prior to handover

Contractor & Stakeholder Management

• Manage key contractors and service providers
• Define scope, review delivery quality, and ensure compliance
• Coordinate activities across internal and external teams

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce strict safety standards across all operations
• Ensure compliance with electrical and operational regulations
• Lead audits, safety initiatives, and field compliance checks

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain operational procedures, records, and documentation
• Report on KPIs, incidents, and performance
• Ensure accuracy of logs and maintenance data

Requirements

Experience

• 8+ years in critical infrastructure (data centres, utilities, industrial, or similar)
• 5+ years in leadership roles managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience in 24/7 mission-critical environments
• Strong HV/MV electrical infrastructure experience preferred

Technical Knowledge

• Electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators)
• Mechanical/HVAC systems in industrial environments
• Exposure to BMS, EPMS, SCADA, or DCIM platforms
• Strong understanding of maintenance and reliability programmes

Leadership & Skills

• Strong people leadership and team development skills
• Confident communicator across operational and executive levels
• Ability to make decisions under pressure
• Highly organised with strong attention to safety and detail

Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
