Operations Manager Assistant

Job Summary

This is a pivotal leadership role within our nursery operations, responsible for strategic direction, commercial growth, operational excellence, and team leadership to ensure sustained success and profitability in a competitive horticultural market. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily operations across multiple locations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Coordinate and direct the daily departmental workflow (sales, purchasing, production, shipping, and transportation) to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
• Assign duties to personnel to ensure efficient operation of departments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop teams to enhance performance, accountability, and collaboration.
• Support vendor and supplier negotiations to maintain competitive pricing.
• Partner with the CFO on budgets, cost controls, and departmental reporting.
• Monitor timesheets, labor productivity, and freight costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Identify and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency and profitability.
• Oversee project management activities, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time and within scope.

Qualifications

• Proven success in business development and multi-location operations oversight (nursery, horticulture, or agriculture industry a strong plus).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• 2+ years of experience in operations, logistics, or production management.
• Technical proficiency with ERP systems, Excel, and project management tools.
• Willingness to work extended hours and travel between nursery locations as needed.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
