Duties

  • Transcribe detailed physician-patient interactions during retinal examinations and procedures with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in documenting patient histories, symptoms, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Manage and organize medical records, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations and practice standards.
  • Support physicians by preparing exam rooms, updating patient charts, and verifying insurance information prior to appointments.
  • Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems efficiently for data entry, retrieval, and updating of patient information.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy related to the retina, and physiology to accurately capture clinical notes.
  • Assist with in office procedures such as laser treatments, intravitreal injection and other.
  • Requires good sterile technique
  • Travel to satellite locations required
  • Potential for assisting at surgery in hospitil or ASC setting

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical office settings with familiarity using EMR or EHR systems for documentation purposes.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy (especially ocular anatomy), physiology, and ophthalmic procedures.
  • Excellent typing skills with high accuracy and speed to support real-time transcription during patient visits.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of medical documentation processes including charting, note-taking, and report transcription.
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology or retina clinics is a plus ; eagerness to learn specialized knowledge is essential.
