Duties
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences
- Take precise measurements for lens and frame fitting, ensuring optimal comfort and vision correction
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Crystal PM
- Support clinical staff with laboratory tasks such as lens edging, frame adjustments, and quality checks
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times
- Manage retail sales transactions efficiently while promoting available eyewear products and accessories
- Assist in inventory management of optical supplies and laboratory materials to ensure smooth operations
Experience
- Previous optical experience or retail sales background preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, and physiology fundamentals is advantageous but not required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and medical billing processes enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Crystal PM or other clinic management software is a plus
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security is essential
- Laboratory experience related to lens fabrication or frame adjustments is beneficial
- Strong communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide excellent customer service in a retail or clinical setting
