Optometric Technician/Optician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician/Optician to join our team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. You will be responsible for performing various clinical tasks, managing patient records, and supporting the front desk operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, medical terminology, and retail math, along with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and conducting preliminary tests.
  • Perform vital signs checks and document patient information accurately in the electronic health record system.
  • Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and processing payments.
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
  • Maintain an organized clinic environment by ensuring equipment is clean and ready for use.
  • Support sales efforts by providing product recommendations based on patient needs.
  • Handle medical coding for insurance claims to ensure proper billing procedures are followed.
  • Work effectively with pediatric patients to create a comfortable experience during their visits.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar clinical setting is preferred.
  • Patient should be punctual and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems such as Eyefinity
  • Knowledge of medical coding practices is beneficial but not required.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
