Director, Procurement
Purpose:
The job holder will implement scalable business processes and customer service standards to deliver efficient order processing and procurement services. The role is responsible for the overall customer relationship management (CRM) and supplier relationship management (SRM) functions across general, grants, and strategic purchases, acting as the primary leader in establishing the communication framework and service culture for procurement.
Responsibilities:

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Leadership: Establish a communication framework with designated channels to provide a high level of service and excellent consumer experience for all internal stakeholders such as general, grants, and strategic purchases

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Strategy: Manage all interactions with key third-party suppliers to maximize value, reduce risk of failure, and achieve competitive advantage through collaborative relationships and strategic partnerships

Order Fulfillment Process Efficiency: Implement and maintain scalable business processes to ensure efficient order processing and timely delivery of materials and services

Procurement Contracts Management: Manage the entire contract lifecycle for all general, grants, and strategic purchases, ensuring adherence to established terms, conditions, and internal controls

Operational Performance and Metrics: Responsible for monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs), including order cycle time, vendor performance, and customer satisfaction, recommending actions to drive continuous improvement

Team Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to the university's policies, procedures, and financial controls.

Policy and Process Optimization: Drive the continuous improvement of order fulfillment policies and workflows to enhance efficiency and ensure full alignment with University objectives

General Administrative Support: Perform other related duties as requested
Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is mandatory

SCM certification(s) and an MBA are significant assets

Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement within corporate or multinational companies

Strong knowledge of supply chain management, best practices and corporate environment experience is required
Technical Skills:

Leadership and Strategic: Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic thinking skills

Ability to lead teams and develop comprehensive business management capabilities

Relationship Management: Extensive negotiation skills, customer-oriented and diplomatic
-
Exceptional customer service and SRM and CRM management experience is key

Functional and Technical: High knowledge of the local and international market, e.g. goods and services

Professional user of ERP, e.g. knowledge of SAP-ARIBA, is an advantage
-
Organizational and Resilience: High organizational skills and capability to manage multitasks simultaneously

Ability to work effectively under stress

Communication: Excellent command of written and spoken English

Strong overall written and verbal communication skills
