Role Overview:
The Lead of Original Productions will be responsible for driving the creative and operational strategy for local original commissions slate for the factual & lifestyle genre of WBD India. This role will lead projects from concept to telecast, ensuring high-quality, commercially viable, and culturally resonant content that strengthens our linear and streaming offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Content Strategy & Slate Management

• Create and manage a diverse local originals commissioning slate across linear and streaming platforms.
• Lead projects through the entire lifecycle – from concept and development to greenlight, execution, and telecast

2) Creative Development

• Develop new concepts and shows within the non-fiction, unscripted, factual, and reality entertainment genres.
• Identify and innovate fresh unscripted formats and franchises to expand the Factual Entertainment category.

3) Talent & Partnership Development

• Build and nurture relationships with top-tier producers to bring high-potential, breakthrough projects to WBD.
• Identify and develop fresh on-screen and off-screen talent for our brands.

4) Budget & Production Oversight

• Manage and optimize the local commissions budget for maximum creative and commercial impact.
• Work closely with production management teams to negotiate costs, estimate budgets, and define delivery timelines.

5) Compliance & Editorial Standards

• Collaborate with Business & Legal Affairs and Standards & Practices teams to assess editorial sensitivities and ensure contractual compliance.

6) Performance & Insights

• Utilize content metrics to evaluate show performance and inform robust content strategies.
• Track competitive landscape to identify emerging opportunities for genre and audience growth.

7) Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Programming, Marketing, Insights, and PR teams to plan and execute impactful content launches.
• Collaborate with Sales, Brand Solutions, and Revenue teams to assess monetization opportunities and maximize commercial value.

8) Regional & Global Alignment

• Work with regional and global stakeholders to share strategy, access global formats, and explore cross-market launch opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 15+ years’ experience in content development, commissioning, or production in television, streaming, or media.
• Proven track record in delivering successful unscripted/factual entertainment formats.
• Strong creative instincts with a deep understanding of local and regional audience preferences.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets and production schedules.
• Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with content performance analytics and competitive market tracking.
