GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES:


a) Participate in continuous quality improvement as and when required and in any other work assigned by the HOD within the scope of the job.
b) Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in maintaining critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
c) Actively participate in the Medical Center’s on-going Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Programs and other In-Service Training Programs
d) Act as a translator if needed
e) Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the Head of Department

DEPARTMENT SPECIALIZED RESPONSIBILITIES


a) Point of contact for HAAD OSH Centre.
b) Investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health
c) Undertaking risk assessment and site inspections
d) Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely
e) Identifying potential hazards
f) Determining ways of reducing risks
g) Writing internal health and safety policies/strategies
h) Compiling statistics
i) Making presentations to groups of employees/managers
j) Providing health and safety meetings and training courses for employees
k) Liaising with relevant authorities
l) Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:
  • Work is carried out within general policies, principles and goals, and is subject to direction only for guidance on policy issues.
ACCOUNTIBILITY:
  • Accountable for day to day related assignments

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT:

  • Attending Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs as a mandatory requirement.
  • Being compliant with all OSH policies & procedures and legal requirements regarding Occupational Safety and Health Management System.
  • Conducting his/her task in a healthy and safe manner at all times.
  • Reporting any untoward events that will impact the occupational, safety & health of patients, staff, contractors, facilities, and operations, etc. OHSMS procedures of which they have been informed, instructed and trained.
  • Actively participate along with line management towards implementation of OHSMS requirements.
  • Report to the respective manager any potentially hazard, unsafe act or condition, which may cause OSH impacts.
  • Report all OSH hazard, near miss and incidents to the respective line manager.

INFECTION CONTROL:

  • All employees are personally accountable for their actions and are responsible for ensuring that they comply with infection prevention and control policies.
  • Health care workers are responsible for identifying infectious conditions that require specific controls to protect themselves and their patients. In addition, they are responsible for notifying the infection prevention.

  • Stay updated and ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation.

  • Accountable for day-to-day assignments related to the role.

  • Attend all mandatory Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs.

  • Comply with OSH policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

  • Perform tasks in a safe and healthy manner at all times.

  • Report any events impacting the safety and health of patients, staff, contractors, or operations.

  • Participate with line management in implementing OHSMS requirements.

  • Report any potential hazards, unsafe acts, or unsafe conditions to the manager.

  • Report all OSH hazards, near misses, and incidents to the respective line manager.

INFECTION CONTROL

  • Ensure full compliance with infection prevention and control policies.

  • Identify infectious conditions requiring special precautions and protect self and patients accordingly.

  • Notify the infection prevention team when required.


Qualification: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety
Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Medical Centre or a similar organization
