Directs, supervises and coordinates the activities in the designated area and ensures good standard of care is provided. Maintaining the highest possible professional standards.


3.2 Establish, monitor and ensure professional standards of care are maintained within the Nursing Department.
3.3 Supports an environment that allows staff to acquire skills, identify and develop new ideas and ensures commitment to organizational goals
3.4 Performs all managerial functions of OT, CSSD and Endoscopy department
3.5 Develops and ensures the implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care on an ongoing basis.
3.6 Responsible for ensuring that the nursing and technician are competent to consult patient, admission, transfer movement and discharge.
3.7 Supervises and periodically audits nurses and technician assessment and care of patients and the documentation of the same.
3.8 Conducts ongoing risk management of current patients and mitigation thereof the risk identified at the earliest.
3.9 Deals with other departments to solve inter-unit or inter-departmental problems.
3.10 Provide appropriate nursing staffing coverage for unscheduled absenteeism /sick leave or change in number of patients or status ensuring patient safety.
3.11 Responsible for daily and vacationing scheduling for the assigned unit staff of the hospital.
3.12 Supervises the review and preparation of the duty roaster, advising in-charge nurses of needs for amendments.
3.13 Supervising the development of appropriate inventory systems, which are ongoing, preventing shortages or overstocking in the departments.
3.14 Coordinates patient placement for optimal utilization of beds and equipment based on patient care needs.

3.15 Ensures preventive and ongoing maintenance of equipment is carried out and reporting all failures or deficiencies through appropriate department heads.
3.16 Handles the orientation and evaluation of new staffs.
3.17 Facilitates the placements of patients in conjunction with Admission, Discharge, and Transfer and as necessary in liaison with the In-charge nurses.
3.18 Organizes emergency medications, equipment, supplies and services for patient care needs.
3.19 Conducts organized timely rounds to assess the current situation of the patients.
3.20 Acts as clinical/managerial resource for In-charge nurses and all nursing staffs.
3.21 Coordinates in the patient transfer in and transfer out process of the hospital.
3.22 Manages disaster control center in emergency situations
3.23 Assist in the development of unit policy and procedures which involve all patient care issues and acts as an advocate for patient and staffs.
3.24 Actively participated in the nominated hospital committee meetings.
3.25 Demonstrates deep knowledge of Fire and Safety, Patient safety, Infection Control, waste management and other necessary precautions as per hospital policy.
3.26 Carries out any other duties assigned by the Medical Director and Hospital General Manager
3.27 Direct and supervise all administrative and clinical activities in the OT premises inclusive of the Pre-Operative holding area and the Post-Operative recovery area also in CSSD and Endoscopy department.
3.28 Coordinate with the head of the department in Anesthesiology and Chairman of Surgical Services in scheduling of surgeries based on the OT bookings form received.
3.29 Coordinates patient placement for optimal utilization of beds and equipment based on priority of patient care needs.
3.30 Ensures safe practices are adhered to at all times in the OT including the compliance to the organizations protocol for ‘Time Out’
3.31 Follow up with Post-Operative Patients.
3.32 Ensure preventative and ongoing maintenance of equipment is carried out, reporting all failures or deficiencies through appropriate department head.
3.33 In Coordination with the Human Resources Department, Develop Coordinate and direct orientation /cross training programs which are competency based on documented and evaluated.

3.34 Responsible for preparation of daily reports, Monthly statistics and monthly compilation and reporting of key performance indicators.
3.35 Establishes and ensures the implementation of CSSD policies and procedures.
3.36 Ensure instruments sets are standardized, sterilized and good working condition according to hospital policies and procedures.
3.37 Prepares duty rotas, assign task and duties of CSSD Staffs.
3.38 Develops and coordinates with the education department in the orientation of new staffs according to orientation program and hospital policies and procedures.
3.39 Directly supervises and evaluates personnel performance as per department policies and procedures.
3.40 Carries out any other duties assigned by the Medical Director and Hospital General Manager.
3.41 Supports good communication between professionals.
3.42 Jointly plans and develops policies; clinical guidelines; and related protocols, pathways, and other documents that guide the delivery of clinical services; oversees the quality of patient care.
3.43 Recommends space, medical technology, equipment, staffing, and other resources needed by the department or service and have a process in place to respond to shortages
3.44 Recommends criteria for selecting the department's or service’s professional staff and choose or recommend individuals who meet those criteria
3.45 Reviews the staffing plan of the department quarterly to ensure the staffing levels related to the workload do not compromise quality & patient safety.
3.46 Provides orientation and training for all staff of the duties and responsibilities for the department or service to which they are assigned
3.47 Identifies, in writing, the services to be provided by the department, and integrates or coordinates those services with the services of other departments
3.48 Improves quality and patient safety by participating in hospital wide improvement priorities and in monitoring and improving patient care specific to the department/service
3.49 Engages their staff in improvement activities that reflect the hospital wide priorities and address the clinical or nonclinical activities specific to their department or service
3.50 Selects and implements clinical practice guidelines, and related clinical pathways, and/or clinical protocols, to guide clinical care.
3.51 Promotes a culture of safety in the department/& across the hospital.

3.52 Comply with all OSH (Occupational safety and health )and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
3.53 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.54 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.55 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
3.56 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.57 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.58 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
3.59 Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that any workplaces they manage or control are safe and without risks to health, safety or the environment.
3.60 Ensure implementation of applicable DOH , NMCRH OSHMS and infection control policies and standards
3.61 Ensure adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
3.62 Designating a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
3.63 Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/ management meetings
3.64 Ensure provision of OSH information, training and Supervision
3.65 Implement and monitor effectiveness of risk management program


4.1 Five years of clinical experience with minimum of 2 years as OT Manager/ Administrator.
4.2 Demonstrates sound decision-making in leadership abilities, with ability to adapt to changes in the working environment.
