The opportunity
The OU Quality and CI Manager at Hitachi, Ltd. will be responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring the highest standards of quality across a designated Operational Unit (OU). This role focuses on optimizing processes, reducing defects, and fostering a culture of excellence.
How you’ll make an impact
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) tailored to the OU's specific operations, in alignment with global Hitachi quality standards.

Lead and manage continuous improvement projects using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product/service quality.

Conduct regular quality audits, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality deviations and prevent recurrence.

Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and continuous improvement, reporting on progress and identifying areas for further development.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, supply chain, and customer service, to embed quality principles and CI practices throughout the OU.

Champion a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence through training, coaching, and mentoring of OU personnel.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal Hitachi policies.

Manage and develop a team of quality and CI specialists, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.

Prepare and present reports on quality performance, CI project status, and strategic recommendations to senior management.

Your background
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in quality management and continuous improvement roles.

Proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt certification preferred), Kaizen, and other continuous improvement methodologies and strong understanding and experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001).

Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex improvement projects with measurable results and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels and experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly desirable.

Proficiency in quality assurance tools and statistical analysis and ability to travel occasionally as required.

Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
