Position Summary:
ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis is seeking a highly organized, relationship-driven Outreach Specialist to support the organization’s healthcare and community engagement efforts. This role works closely with the Director of Healthcare & Community Partnerships to help execute outreach strategies, strengthen community visibility, support partnerships, and increase referrals to ABCD’s free emotional support services.
The Outreach Specialist will play a key role in executing outreach and engagement initiatives developed by the Director of Healthcare & Community Partnerships and ABCD leadership. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys representing an organization in the community, building connections, managing details, and ensuring projects move from planning to execution.
The ideal candidate is professional, personable, organized, and comfortable balancing relationship-building with administrative and database responsibilities.
This position works collaboratively across departments, including Service Delivery, Marketing, and Operations, to support ABCD’s outreach and partnership goals.
Full-time 40 hrs./Wk, 9-5 CST, M-F, with some early mornings, evenings and weekends, as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Represent ABCD at community events, healthcare outreach activities, educational programs, conferences, tabling opportunities, and networking events.
- Support implementation of outreach and engagement strategies developed by the Director of Healthcare & Community Partnerships.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals, hospitals, cancer centers, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
- Support selected outreach initiatives and partnership activities that increase awareness of ABCD services and generate referrals.
- Support outreach efforts to underserved and historically marginalized communities.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, presentations, Lunch & Learns, and community engagement activities.
- Coordinate logistics, outreach materials, and event preparation for community engagement initiatives.
Partnership & Organizational Support
- Help maintain ongoing communication with healthcare and community partners.
- Assist with partnership follow-up, relationship stewardship, and outreach coordination.
- Support efforts to identify new community and healthcare partnership opportunities.
- Coordinate distribution of ABCD materials and outreach resources.
- Help ensure timely follow-through on assigned outreach initiatives and partnership-related tasks.
- Maintain outreach schedules, contact lists, and partnership tracking systems.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to support outreach and engagement priorities.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, contacts, referrals, and engagement efforts within Salesforce or a similar CRM/database system.
- Assist with preparing reports, outreach lists, presentations, and follow-up materials.
- Ensure outreach materials, folders, and resource packets remain updated, organized, and readily available.
- Manage multiple projects and assignments while maintaining strong attention to detail and deadlines.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment that includes remote work, in-office collaboration, and community-based engagement.
- Experience in community outreach, healthcare outreach, nonprofit engagement, public relations, customer engagement, or related fields preferred.
- Experience professionally representing an organization in community or public-facing settings.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on assignments and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable building relationships with diverse groups of people and organizations.
- Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM/database system strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with team members.
- Must reside in Southeastern Wisconsin.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel locally for meetings, outreach activities, and community events.
