Job Description: Packaging Specialist (F&B / Restaurant Experience)
Position Summary
The Packaging Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all food items are packed accurately, hygienically, and according to company standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining food quality, presentation, safety, and timely dispatch for dine-in, takeaway, catering, and delivery orders. Candidates with F&B or restaurant experience are preferred to ensure familiarity with food handling and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Pack food items according to defined portion sizes, menus, and presentation standards.
- Ensure that packaging materials (boxes, containers, wraps, labels, etc.) are used correctly and appropriately.
- Check food quality and temperature before packing.
- Follow SOPs for different menu items (hot meals, cold items, desserts, beverages, etc.).
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness during the packaging process.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (HACCP / internal hygiene standards).
- Report any quality issues, contamination risks, or damaged items immediately.
- Ensure that expiry, production dates, and labels are applied accurately.
- Communicate effectively with chefs, kitchen staff, and dispatch/driver teams.
- Ensure timely preparation and packing of orders to avoid delays.
- Coordinate packaging requirements for bulk orders, catering, and online delivery platforms.
- Monitor stock of packaging materials and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Handle packaging materials carefully to minimize wastage and cost.
- Record daily consumption of packaging items when required.
- Follow company safety protocols and hygiene practices at all times.
- Use appropriate gloves, hairnets, and PPE during food handling and packing.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and workstation cleanliness.
- Maintain daily logs for packed items, batch numbers, order quantities, and wastage.
- Update supervisors on any issues related to packaging, equipment, or materials.
- Support in inventory checks and monthly stock audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in food packaging, F&B operations, or restaurant/central kitchen roles.
- Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production or kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and busy hours.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
