PALACES: RED PALACE

JOB TITLE: Painter & Polisher

REPORTING TO: Supervisor / Chief Engineer


POSITION

Under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, this position is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing all aspects of the Palace’s civil works, painting, polishing, wallpaper, and related works in accordance with Boutique Group standards to ensure optimum operational efficiency at all times.


EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Must meet all requirements of Paint & Polish Senior level.
  • Associate technical degree in Civil Polishing or similar field, or minimum 6 years equivalent experience.
  • Authorized locally to work as Senior Painter & Polisher.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4–6 years’ direct experience in hospitality painting, polishing, civil works, and maintenance.
  • Entry-level BMS training with ability to utilize control programs for troubleshooting.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to motivate teams.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • High attention to detail with commitment to quality service.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Palace management software and systems.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English; Arabic preferred.
  • Local market experience is an asset.


JOB DUTIES

  • Repair damaged/cracked surfaces including concrete, plaster, stonework, block work, wallpaper, ceramic tiles, and marble.
  • Perform painting of walls, floors, ceilings, facades, and equipment (indoor/outdoor) using enamel or emulsion paints to match finishes.
  • Handle and store chemicals safely, especially in guest areas.
  • Ensure guest safety, privacy, and comfort at all times.
  • Support guest service technicians, ensuring prompt service and satisfaction.
  • Varnish doors, windows, timber panels, furniture; prepare surfaces prior to painting/varnishing.
  • Conduct spray painting and related finishing works.
  • Perform carpentry repairs and related maintenance tasks.
  • Execute painting works in guestrooms, public areas, plant rooms, and service areas per color codes.
  • Apply protective coatings and mix/match paint colors accurately.
  • Clean and maintain tools after use.
  • Follow scaffolding safety procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and protect surrounding areas during work.
  • Repair ceiling tiles and plasterboards.
  • Apply epoxy paints with full safety precautions.
  • Fabricate/repair gypsum, GRC, aluminum, ceiling tiles, plasterboard, and equivalent materials.
  • Apply wallpaper across Palace areas.
  • Manage hazardous materials and chemical safety compliance.
  • Perform decorative polishing/painting works for furniture.
  • Carry out fire brigade duties when assigned.
  • Maintain Palace wooden works in excellent condition; assist with carpentry works.
  • Respond to guest maintenance requests within 15 minutes.
  • Maintain uniform, grooming, and professional appearance.
  • Keep plant rooms and workshops clean and organized.
  • Perform duties per BG P&P and departmental procedures under Chief Engineer/DOE guidance.
  • Report unusual matters to Chief Engineer/DOE.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promptly attend guest requests with high-quality service.
  • Maintain highest safety and quality standards in guest areas.
  • Coordinate with other departments prior to executing tasks.
  • Follow BG Repair & Maintenance policies, SOPs, and procedures.
  • Report to duty punctually and well groomed.
  • Maintain professional and courteous service.
  • Uphold fire, hygiene, health, and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and protection of work areas.
  • Follow and update R&M programs (checklists, logs, data records, procurement, corrective actions).
  • Support predictive maintenance planning and implementation.
  • Cross-train in HVAC and Room Maintenance.
  • Respond immediately to guest complaints.
  • Attend meetings and required training programs.
  • Stay updated on engineering technologies.
  • Perform duties efficiently to achieve overall objectives.


RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to Chief Engineer/DOEs or deputies.
  • Cooperates with Engineering team and other departments.
  • Interacts with guests and contractors as directed.
  • Supports functions, promotions, and special events when required.


FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

  • Support strategies to maximize revenue, profitability, and cost control while maintaining asset condition and FHLS standards.
  • Contribute to store and procurement strategies ensuring smooth operations and R&M quality.
  • Support utility consumption control and savings initiatives.
  • Assist in departmental budget alignment and expense control.


HEALTH, SAFETY & REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Use proper equipment and PPE; follow safe lifting procedures.
  • Maintain safe, clean environment for guests and staff.
  • Conduct inspections and corrective actions.
  • Follow MSDS and chemical handling procedures.
  • Fully understand and implement fire, emergency, and security procedures.
  • Adhere to all hotel regulations and applicable laws.
