Part-Time Bookkeeper & Personal/Business Assistant

This is a hybrid position and will combine work-from-home tasks with some in-person tasks in San Rafael, CA.

We are seeking a highly organized, reliable, and proactive bookkeeper/ assistant to support both business operations and personal administrative needs for a small family rental management and hospitality business, as well as personal affairs for the owner.

This is a 3+ month part-time role for someone who is detail-oriented, trustworthy, and comfortable handling a mix of bookkeeping, administrative tasks, and occasional errands.

Responsibilities

Business Support:

  • Setup Quickbooks and help track books for a rental management/hospitality business retroactively and for current transactions
  • Maintain accurate financial records and organize transactions
  • Assist with basic reporting and recordkeeping

Administrative & Personal Support:

  • Open, sort, and organize mail
  • Review and help organize medical bills and paperwork
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and ongoing organization

Errands & In-Person Support:

  • Run occasional local errands (must have reliable transportation)
  • Visit residence in San Rafael as needed for in-person collaboration
  • Assist with document signing and coordination when needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Is a very confident bookkeeper
  • Has administrative support experience
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Trustworthy and able to handle sensitive personal and financial information
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills
  • Has a reliable car and valid driver’s license
  • Tech-comfortable (email, spreadsheets, basic bookkeeping tools)

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience supporting a small business owner or family office
  • Familiarity with medical billing or insurance paperwork
  • Background in property management or hospitality bookkeeping

Compensation

  • Hourly: $30–$40/hour (depending on experience)
  • Flexible schedule (~20 hours/week)
  • Mix of remote work and local, in-person tasks
