Position Summary

Thrive Allen County is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to support our mission of improving the health and wellness of Allen County residents. The Communications Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of Communications to manage Thrive’s social media presence, create engaging marketing materials, and support a variety of communication and outreach initiatives.

Thrive Allen County is the largest and most comprehensive rural health advocacy organization in Kansas. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in Allen County through health, wellness, recreation, and economic development initiatives. Duties and Responsibilites

  • Manage all organizational social media accounts (content planning, creation, posting, and engagement).
  • Develop and design marketing and promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and digital graphics.
  • Coordinate with community partners, vendors, and media outlets to support communication campaigns and event promotion.
  • Assist with website management, ensuring content is current, accurate, and visually appealing.
  • Plan, design, and distribute Thrive’s newsletters and e-mail communications.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos for use in marketing and storytelling efforts.
  • Maintain consistent organizational branding across all materials and channels.
  • Provide administrative and creative support for communication projects and community events.
  • Manage correspondence, reports, guest lists, and registration, and perform other duties as assigned to support Thrive’s mission and goals.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) for an organization or business.
  • Strong graphic design and content creation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
  • Experience with photography and videography, including editing and content organization.
  • Familiarity with website management tools or CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Wix).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working in community development, nonprofit, or public health organizations is a plus.

  • Compensation: $22.22 per hour
  • This position requires schedule flexibility. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required for meetings and special projects. Overnight travel will also be required on occasion.
