The Stony Brook School is seeking a part-time teacher to provide grading, feedback, and learning management system posting and oversight for our asynchronous online Studio and Digital Art classes: Middle School Studio Art, Studio Art, Graphic Design, and Advanced Graphic Design. Weekly live online office hours are required as part of this position.

Qualifications

A bachelor's or master's degree that focused on studio and digital art, ideally with experience in graphic design

At least three years of teaching experience, including online instruction

Strong organizational skills and ability to meet grading and project deadlines

Strong work ethic, high energy, and strong ability to connect with teenagers in the online context

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to respond quickly to all communications

Eagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation

High proficiency with technology, including the ability to learn and utilize a learning management system like Canvas LMS, online software tools like the Adobe CC Suite, and the ability to create screencasts and videos.

Primary Responsibilities

Teach sequences of courses in digital arts from introductory levels to the advanced levels

Provide synchronous and asynchronous instruction

Grade student work

Help organize virtual gallery shows

Assist students in entering art competitions and preparing portfolios for college applications
Salary Range:
$25-30/hour with a maximum of 10 hours per week.
