Virtropolis VR is a VR entertainment venue in Round Rock, TX where guests play immersive VR escape rooms and arcade games. Between sessions, our team is developing our own original VR game using Godot, with the long-term goal of growing into a full game studio.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to get hands-on experience in both VR operations and game development — helping real guests one moment, and building the next generation of VR experiences the next.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Part-Time Godot Game Developer to join our small, flexible team. When customers are in the venue, your focus will be on helping with VR setup and support. When the floor is clear, you’ll work on building our first in-house VR game alongside our designer and 3D artist.
Responsibilities:
- Assist guests and monitor VR sessions during customer hours
- Develop and test gameplay systems, puzzles, and interactions in Godot
- Help integrate 3D assets, animations, and sound
- Troubleshoot bugs and optimize gameplay for VR
- Collaborate with the team to shape the direction of our first title
Preferred Skills:
- Basic to intermediate experience with Godot Engine (GDScript or C#)
- Familiarity with VR development (OpenXR, Godot XR Toolkit, or similar)
- Understanding of 3D environments, collisions, and scene setup
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
Bonus Points For:
- Experience in Unreal, Unity, or other 3D engines
- Interest in escape room or puzzle-style game design
- Prior experience in customer service or entertainment environments
Why Join Us:
- Be part of a VR venue that’s building its first original game
- Learn both the business and creative side of VR
- Work with a supportive, cross-disciplinary team
- Get in early — as we grow into a studio, future opportunities will expand
If you’re looking to gain real-world experience in VR and game development while being part of something growing from the ground up, we’d love to meet you.
