Liberty Common School is seeking a part-time special education resource teacher position beginning January 2026. Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, is a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to Core Knowledge principles, and college-preparatory instruction.

LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge, 2) the skills of learning, and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.

This full-time special education resource teacher is part of the special education and academic support collaborative team and will report directly to the Academic Support Team (AST) Coordinator. This position will focus on Science and Math instruction in a small group setting.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Part-time

WORK HOURS: 15-20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $25,000.00-$30,000.00 (possibly higher based on background, experience, and/or institutional alignment).

REPORTS TO: AST Coordinator

REVISION DATE: November, 2025


Teaching Skills:

  • Provide direct services for students on IEPs, 504 accommodations, and MTSS plans.
  • Assist students with specialized Science and Math curriculum to meet goals of Individualized Education Plans.
  • Assist small groups and individuals with planning class lessons and reinforcing executive functioning skills.
  • Work collaboratively and instruct general education teachers and parents on ways to meet identified student goals.

Administrative Duties:

  • Preparing classroom materials, assuring and documenting legal compliance to learning plans, maintaining files.
  • Administering AIMSWEB testing, collecting progress-monitoring data, and documenting student achievement.
  • Scheduling meetings with parents, scheduling standard testing, and creating class rosters.
  • Implementing MTSS and identifying students through STAT team services for general education students.
  • Reliability to maintain confidentiality as required by special-education policy and student privacy compliance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and experience working with children with a variety of learning disabilities.
  • Desire to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold the mission and values of the school.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, use time efficiently, detail oriented, follow instructions, and work on a team.
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment with innovation and flexibility.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Colorado teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements in special education for mild to moderate disabilities
  • Experience with middle school and secondary school resource programs, PBIS or MTSS interventionist training.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong academic background and proficiency in teaching core knowledge subjects such as math and English
  • Experience with Behavior Intervention Plans and working with middle school and high school students.
  • Commitment to character education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs of supplies frequently.
  • Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
  • Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers, copiers, and printers.
