Employment Type: Part Time (3-5 hours currently, with room for expansion)

Job Summary

The HR Manager at Puffling Play oversees all aspects of human resources operations, including hiring, onboarding, employee relations, leave management, and internal communication. This role ensures compliance with company policies, maintains accurate documentation, and supports the executive team in building a positive, professional, and inclusive company culture.

The HR Manager is a key member of the Executive Team, which currently includes the CEO, Operations Manager, and HR Manager, and plays a central role in the growth and organizational development of the company.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with or willingness to learn HR tools: Checkr, Monday.com, Docusign, Canva, Squarespace, Google Meet, ChatGPT
  • Ability to multitask across administrative, creative, and interpersonal functions
  • Empathy, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Self starter is a must. The tools you need are provided, but you must be wiling to be a self starter and problem solver.

Performance Expectations

  • Maintain professional communication with all staff and leadership.
  • Ensure 100% completion of onboarding steps for new hires.
  • Keep HR policies and manuals current and accessible.
  • Respond to emails and surveys promptly.
  • Promote positive employee morale and uphold company culture, including remote opportunities for raising morale and connecting team members.

Core Responsibilities

  • Email Management: Check and respond to HR emails daily in a timely and professional manner.
  • Forward or CC theCEO on any issues beyond HR scope or that could escalate.
  • Project Tracking: Use Monday.com to organize and track HR projects, communications, and progress.
  • Time Logging: Record hours and tasks daily using the Puffling Play Hours Google Sheet.

Team Communication:

  • Attend weekly staff meetings (Google Meet)
  • Attend quarterly in-person meetings
  • Maintain a chat for the team

Hiring:

  • Advertise for new Party Specialist positions through social media, referrals, and fairs.
  • Screen incoming applications using the Puffling Play Employee Application and update the HR spreadsheet
  • Schedule and conduct interviews via Google Meet
  • Communicate hiring decisions and updates to the CEO.

Onboarding

  • Send offer letters and contracts
  • Conduct background checks through Checkr.
  • Send onboarding emails
  • Schedule training sessions and shadowing with the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain personnel files using Staff Tracker and the New Hire Checklist.
  • Send onboarding feedback surveys to new hires and collect bios/photos for internal announcements.

Policy and Compliance

  • Regularly review and update the HR Handbook, procedural manuals, and company policies.
  • Write post-mortems for incidents or terminations to improve future procedures.

Employee Engagement

  • Send prewritten birthday emails to contractors
  • Create HR and morale-boosting content using Canva.
  • Support and present during regular All-Hands meetings.

Job Type: Part-time

Base Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
