Part-Time Laboratory Assistant (Mold and Environmental Testing Laboratory)

Indoor Environmental Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Part-Time Laboratory Assistant to support operations within our mold and environmental testing laboratory. This position is well suited for an individual with a strong academic or professional background in biology or a related scientific field, along with practical experience using microscopes in a laboratory environment.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the microscopic examination of air and surface samples collected in the field, with the goal of identifying and quantifying mold spores present in each sample. In addition to mold sample analysis, this role will also assist with water analysis and other forms of environmental laboratory testing as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform microscopic analysis of air and surface samples to identify and quantify mold spores
• Conduct mold spore counts for air samples in accordance with established laboratory procedures
• Prepare, examine, and document laboratory samples with accuracy and attention to detail
• Assist with water analysis and additional environmental laboratory testing
• Maintain precise records of test results, observations, and laboratory data
• Follow laboratory protocols, quality assurance procedures, and safety standards
• Support general laboratory organization, maintenance, and cleanliness

Required Qualifications

• Educational background in biology, microbiology, environmental science, or a closely related discipline
• Experience using a microscope in a laboratory or scientific setting
• Strong observational, analytical, and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, consistent work
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a mold laboratory
• Familiarity with the identification and quantification of mold spores
• Experience performing mold spore counts, particularly for air samples
• Exposure to environmental laboratory testing methods and procedures
