Responsibilities

• Review and assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to medical procedures and diagnoses.
• Prepare and submit accurate claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection techniques, working diligently to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain detailed and organized medical records, including documentation of billing activities, coding details, and patient information.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure proper coding for maximum reimbursement.
• Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure compliance.
• Assist in resolving patient billing inquiries professionally while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a medical office setting with knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and documentation purposes.
• Strong understanding of medical coding principles including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards.
• Experience with medical collection processes and resolving claim denials efficiently.
• Familiarity with insurance policies, billing regulations, and compliance standards related to healthcare reimbursement.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex documentation accurately.
