Overview

The Lake County Commissioners are seeking a part-time secretary receptionist for the Lake County Building Inspection Department. Under direction of the Office Manager, performs a wide variety of clerical and secretarial tasks for the Chief Building Official and staff.

Duties

  • Greet visitors in a welcoming manner and answer their questions while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Manage multi-line phone systems to handle incoming calls efficiently, providing excellent customer service and support
  • Schedule appointments for building inspections
  • Opening and sorting mail, performing data entry, filing, and document proofreading to ensure accuracy and organization within office records
  • Handle correspondence via email and phone, practicing proper phone etiquette and customer support techniques
  • Performing various administrative tasks as needed

Skills

  • Proven experience in front desk reception or office administration with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professional phone etiquette and working with visitors at the counter
  • Strong clerical skills such as typing quickly with high accuracy, data entry, filing, and proofreading
  • Exceptional time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous office or customer service experience demonstrating professionalism and reliability
  • Experience and knowledge issuing permits is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge in the construction field is a plus

  • Shift is Monday through Friday 8AM-1PM
