This part time Staff Physician will provide services for a limited term. The staff physician is responsible for being a member of the health care delivery team, providing primary health care services to patients, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic problems. This position also promotes standards of care, assists supervision of all practitioners, promotes the overall quality of clinical services delivered, and advises on organizational changes as necessary. The Staff Physician serves as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Obtains health histories and performs physical exams

2. Provides comprehensive primary care

3. Teaches health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention

4. Diagnosis, and in partnership with the patient, manages acute and chronic health conditions

5. Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies and lab tests

6. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, splinting, casting, biopsies, cryotherapy

7. Prescribes or recommends pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies, including controlled medications, in accordance with Wisconsin law.

8. Assures adequate follow-up

9. Demonstrated ability to follow standard charting procedures and use of an electronic health record is essential.

10. Teaches and counsels patients as indicated

11. Promotes self care through the provision of information, counseling, and education

12. Collaborates with other health professionals when needed.

13. Presents pertinent patient data in a manner both consistent with professional standards and expectations of medical practice, and meaningful to other members of the health care team.

14. May develop and or participate in community outreach programs/activities

15. Provides care appropriate to the age, culture, and the individual needs of the patient

16. Assists in the management of epidemiological aspects of communicable disease that occur on campus, and reports them to the Milwaukee Health Department

17. Supervises and oversees Physician Assistants in accordance with Med Chapters 8 and 17 of Wisconsin Administrative Code.

18. Provides consult and oversight of the quality of clinical and ancillary care.

19. Helps develop patient care policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines

20. Assists in the development and implementation of performance improvement projects, particularly those related to improving patient outcomes

21. Advises the Executive Director on clinical issues and policies, changes in primary care, specialty referrals, resource requirements, and relationships with health care entities on-and off-campus

22. Participates in meetings, committees, and projects relevant to the functioning of the organization
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. MD/DO from an accredited medical school

2. Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Wisconsin

3. Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Pediatrics

4. Must be registered with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe medications and controlled substances

5. Minimum of 5 years applicable clinical experience is recommended

6. Interested and committed to the educational and preventive aspects of college health

7. Strong communication and organizational skills

8. Professional practice style compatible with and supportive of Marquette’s mission
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Previous college health and/or primary care experience

2. Experience in women’s health, eating disordered patients, and/or musculoskeletal medicine
