Full job description
Job Title: Pastry Sous Chef
Starting Monthly Salary: QAR 6000 (Full package / Live Out) OR QAR 5,000 with company transportation and accommodation (shared room)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and developing creative, high-quality pastry and bakery items, including cakes, breads, pastries, desserts, and specialty baked goods, tailored to the restaurant/bakery’s concept and customer preferences.
- Assist in leading, training, and inspiring the pastry and bakery team, ensuring a high level of performance, creativity, and efficiency. Create staff schedules and oversee daily production assignments.
- Assist in supervising all aspects of the baking process, from mixing dough and batters to baking, decorating, and plating, ensuring consistent quality and presentation of all products.
- Assist in developing new recipes and refine existing ones, staying up-to-date with global pastry and bakery trends to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
- Managing the procurement of ingredients and baking supplies, ensuring proper inventory levels, controlling costs, and minimizing waste while maintaining product quality.
- Maintaining high standards in taste, texture, presentation, and portion control for all bakery and pastry items. Perform regular checks to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensuring that all areas of the pastry and bakery kitchen meet strict sanitation, health, and safety standards, in accordance with local and industry regulations.
- Work closely with the Head Chef, kitchen staff, and management to coordinate and integrate bakery products with other menu items, catering services, and special events.
- Engage with customers for feedback and special orders, ensuring that all custom cakes, desserts, and baked goods meet customer expectations and are delivered on time.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience in both pastry and bakery production, with a track record of creative menu development and successful kitchen leadership.
- Expertise in a wide range of baking and pastry techniques, including bread making, viennoiserie, patisserie, and cake decoration.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a focus on team development and positive kitchen culture.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
- Solid understanding of cost control, budgeting, and inventory management.
