Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing various administrative tasks. This role requires an understanding of medical terminology, strong office management skills, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage multi-line phone system, directing calls appropriately and responding to inquiries with professionalism.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently while considering provider availability and patient needs.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform insurance verification and assist with medical billing processes, including CPT coding and ICD-10 coding.
- Review care plans and ensure proper documentation is maintained for all patient interactions.
- Familiar with EHR systems or similar platforms for patient management.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing correspondence.
- Assist in the intake process for new and existing patients, ensuring all necessary information is collected accurately.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to support patient care initiatives and office operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, health information management, and insurance processes.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; typing proficiency required (10 key typing experience preferred).
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review tasks.
- Must have consistent, punctual and reliable attendance.
- Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and stay organized.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently requires sitting, using hands, reaching and twisting.
- Frequently requires fine hand movements; typing.
- Frequently requires listening and speaking on a telephone and/or video conference program
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- Standing and walking throughout the day.
- The work environment is generally quiet, with moderate noise from phones and other office machines.
