A Brief Overview
Provides basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Provides high quality care to the following patient populations: Adult, Medical/Surgical, Geriatric, Telemetry, Cardiac, Neonate, Infant, Toddler, School Age, Adolescent, and Psychiatric care patients.Duties are included but are not limited to those below for specified units. * Perform Bedside shift report and beginning and end of shift.* Utilize policies and procedures to keep patients safe from falls. * Assist in wound prevention and Hospital acquired pressure injuries.• Care for the restrained patient and monitor for safety, as directed by the licensed nurse.• Is cost conscious in use of equipment and supplies.• Adhere to safety practices for own personal protection, i.e. infection control devices, lifts, gait belts, eye shields, gloves.• Demonstrate accurate keyboarding proficiency and computer navigation skills.• Demonstrate knowledge of basic math to calculate intake and output.• Set up equipment such as oxygen, portable x-ray machines, and overhead irrigation bottles.

Qualifications:
Emergency First Response and Choking within 90 days of hire.
May perform clerk duties and assist with clerical functions.
MOAB within 12 months of hire.
Restraint training completed after hire.
Acute care: Med Surg and Telemetry: As above
CCU and ICU: As above, Would allow to have Certified Medical Assistant license instead of CNA.
Dialysis: Functions as an assistant to the Registered Nurse. Prepares, operates and monitors hemodialysis machines and systems to provide dialysis treatment for patients with kidney failure.
Surgical services and PACU: As above
ED: Flexibility in unit assignment as directed by patient care needs. Perform clerical duties such as processing documents.
BH: Interact routinely with patients, either individually or in a group. Conducts group for activities, health promotion such as healthy living habits or ADL practices, exercises, leisure activities, etc. Observe, record and communicate significant behavior observations to nursing staff. Supervise patients in special situations as assigned. Utilize Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques when exposed to volatile patients to maintain personal safety while ensuring safety for the patient and other individuals on the unit.
MCU and IPR: Provides rehabilitative nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse and in coordination with other health team members for the specialized rehabilitation population. Care of the Rehabilitation Patient with the following diagnoses, including but is not limited to: stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, neurologic disorders, debilitation, amputations and burns. Provides high quality care to the following patient populations: Adults, Adolescent.
Women and family/Peds: Set up equipment such as warmer beds, suction, O2 etc. Generates accurate patient charges.
