Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and scheduling to optimize clinic flow and reduce wait times
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, ensuring accurate billing information is collected upfront
- Manage medical records with precision, including documentation of diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Assist with coding procedures using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement
- Process medical billing and collections efficiently while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding billing inquiries, appointment details, and required documentation
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation for insurance claims and audits
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding standards (DRG, CPT, ICD-9/10), and medical billing practices
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for managing medical records and documentation
- Familiarity with medical office procedures including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and record management
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and insurance representatives
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
- Knowledge of medical collection processes to support timely payments and resolve billing issues
- Attention to detail in processing claims accurately according to coding guidelines
