Join Our Team as a Patient Escort I – Mid-Day Shift (Full-Time)

Are you passionate about helping others and making a difference in a healthcare setting? We’re looking for a compassionate and reliable Patient Escort I to join our team and support patient care by ensuring safe and timely transportation throughout the hospital.

Position Details:

Location: Christiana Hospital – Newark Campus
Shift: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday rotation

What You’ll Do:

Safely transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or specialized vehicle to and from various hospital departments.
Assist clinical staff with patient transfers.
Maintain and care for transport equipment.
Attend training sessions and departmental meetings.
Follow safety protocols and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.

What We’re Looking For:

Education: High school diploma preferred.
Experience: 2 years of customer service experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Certification: Must be able to obtain BLS certification upon hire.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency
- Knowledge of hospital layout and body mechanics
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism

Physical Requirements:

Continuous standing, walking, pushing/pulling heavy equipment.
Occasional bending, crouching, lifting.
Exposure to cleaning agents, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.

This position has a starting rate of $17.32 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.34 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.34 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
