Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Payment Posting Team Lead, the Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for data confirmation and payment posting tasks related to bank deposits received. This position also entails additional responsibilities to locate where payments apply by utilizing google spreadsheets/zion, google documents, and payer portals; and, applying complex payments into the provider’s billing software for accurate reporting.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Review facility bank deposit logs on a routine basis, and confirm bank deposits are entered correctly in the billing log spreadsheets.

• Review insurance explanation of benefits (EOBs) by searching in Google Drive for existing correspondence to confirm where payments should be applied to.

• Utilize online insurance portals to search for EOBs to learn where payments are to be applied.
• Document the variance between dollar amount deposited, and dollar amount documented in the billing log spreadsheets.
• Enter all insurance payments posted by the collections team into the billing software.
• Investigate payment errors to identify missing payments and apply in full once the EOB is reviewed; or, clearly notate the difference between deposit amount and payment applied to the claims in our logs.
• Document appropriate follow up notes on accounts and keep meticulous notes and spreadsheets as required.
• Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected.
• Demonstrate customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, and adequate computer skills to be proficient in daily job functions.
• Continually adapt to process improvement for the betterment of Zealie and its Clientele.
• Ability to adhere to HIPAA compliance standards.
• Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisor or Management team.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 2 years experience in payment posting and claims processing.

• Excellent organizational skills.
• Experience working with Payer portals.
• Effective communication skills.
• Proficiency in Google Products including Google Workspace, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs.
• Ability to navigate various technology and software tools.

Education and Experience

• Graduation. Or
• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years relevant experience.

(Preferred):

• Experience in payment posting and claims processing.
