Payroll Manager

About Us

We are a multi-division landscape and construction company operating several entities including custom landscape, commercial, maintenance, and specialty divisions.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable Payroll Manager to manage payroll operations across multiple companies and departments.

Position Summary

The Payroll Manager will oversee weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for field and office employees across multiple entities. This role ensures payroll accuracy, compliance with California labor laws, certified payroll requirements, and proper reporting.

This position works closely with HR, Accounting, Operations Managers, and Division Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for multiple companies
  • Manage timecard collection and review (including field crews)
  • Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws
  • Handle prevailing wage / certified payroll
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation
  • Process garnishments, child support, and benefit deductions
  • Reconcile payroll to general ledger
  • Prepare payroll reports
  • Assist with workers comp audits and reporting
  • Support year-end processing (W-2s, 1099s)

Qualifications

  • 3+ years payroll experience (construction or field-based workforce preferred)
  • Strong understanding of California labor laws
  • Experience with multi-entity payroll
  • Familiar with prevailing wage (highly preferred)
  • Proficient QuickBooks
  • Strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
