Duties
- Process payroll for all employees using advanced payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform data entry and maintain detailed records related to employee hours, benefits, tax deductions, and other payroll components.
- Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping.
- Manage benefits administration tasks including enrollments, changes, and compliance with applicable laws.
- Prepare and review reports related to payroll, taxes, accounts payable/receivable, and governmental filings to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with HRIS systems like PeopleSoft or Kronos to update employee information and streamline payroll workflows.
- Assist with non-profit or governmental accounting procedures when applicable, ensuring adherence to specific financial regulations.
- Support accounts payable processes by verifying invoices related to payroll expenses and processing payments accordingly.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all payroll transactions, adjustments, and reconciliations for audit purposes.
- Stay current on tax regulations and payroll-related legislation to ensure ongoing compliance across all jurisdictions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or Kronos is essential.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks or similar platforms; familiarity with general ledger accounting is a plus.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping.
- Experience working with HRIS systems like UltiPro or PeopleSoft; knowledge of benefits administration is advantageous.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred.
- Familiarity with tax experience related to payroll taxes and governmental reporting requirements.
- Strong analysis skills for reviewing payroll data and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
- Ability to handle complex calculations involving benefits deductions, tax withholding, and other payroll components confidently.
