We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and proactive Personal Assistant/Caregiver to support an individual with Down syndrome in daily life. This role goes beyond basic caregiving—it's about fostering independence, encouraging engagement, and creating a positive, active lifestyle both at home and in the community.
The ideal candidate is attentive, upbeat, socially aware, and takes initiative in providing high-quality care while promoting dignity and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and personal care
- Provide gentle guidance and encouragement to complete daily routines independently when possible
- Act as a motivator and support system for completing activities and maintaining structure
- Engage in community outings, social activities, and recreational events
- Maintain awareness of the individual’s needs, presentation, and comfort when in public settings
- Encourage positive social interactions and engagement with others
- Support emotional well-being through patience, consistency, and a positive attitude
- Observe and respond to changes in mood, behavior, or needs
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
Qualifications
- Experience in caregiving, personal assistance, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong understanding of ADL support and personal care
- Naturally upbeat, engaging, and personable demeanor
- Ability to take initiative without constant direction
- Strong observation skills and situational awareness, especially in public settings
- Reliable, patient, and compassionate
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if community outings are required)
