Personal Care Assistant

Job Summary
Seeking a Personal Assistant to support a young woman with intellectual disabilities in Atchison, KS, focusing on community socialization and prompting daily living tasks. The ideal candidate will be patient, kind, and enjoy community engagement through activities such as park visits, shopping, library excursions, and light physical exercise. Reliable transportation and proof of current automobile insurance are required. This part-time position offers up to 47 hours per month, scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends. While certifications are not mandatory, previous Personal Assistance experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prompt and assist when needed with daily living activities.
• Support client in maintaining their dignity and independence while respecting their resident rights.
• Provide companionship and engage client in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
• Help client with mobility and transferring safely from one location to another within their community.
• Document care provided and any changes in client condition accurately and promptly.

Experience

• Previous experience in senior care, home care, or caregiving is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with first aid practices is a plus.
• Knowledge of resident rights and the importance of maintaining client confidentiality.
• Experience in meal preparation tailored to meet dietary needs is beneficial.
