To supervise, coordinate, and manage all In-Patient (IP) Pharmacy operations ensuring safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications, adherence to hospital policies, and maintenance of quality standards as per NABH guidelines.
A. Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day functioning of the IP Pharmacy.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications for all in-patients.
- Monitor TAT for medication delivery to wards, ICU, OT and emergency.
- Coordinate with nursing staff, doctors, and billing for smooth workflow.
B. Inventory & Stock Control
- Maintain optimal stock levels of all medicines, consumables, and emergency drugs.
- Prevent stockouts and monitor slow/non-moving items.
- Handle indents, purchase requests, and coordination with the central store.
- Monitor expiry management and batch control as per NABH.
C. Staff Supervision
- Supervise, train, and guide IP pharmacy staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing during all shifts.
- Conduct regular training on protocols, medication safety, and documentation.
D. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to NABH, Drug & Cosmetic Act, and hospital SOPs.
- Implement medication safety practices – LASA drugs, high-alert drugs, etc.
- Ensure proper documentation of return medicines, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
- Participate in internal audits and implement corrective actions.
E. Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with doctors, nurses, billing, and procurement for seamless operations.
- Coordinate with IT team for HIS-related pharmacy issues.
- Handle escalations related to medication availability, billing, or delays.
F. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Track daily pharmacy revenue and consumption patterns.
- Reduce wastage, pilferage, and billing errors.
- Assist in price updates, GRN verification, and vendor-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with hospital financial guidelines.
G. Patient Safety & Service Excellence
- Ensure dispensing accuracy and prevent medication errors.
- Facilitate timely availability of emergency & critical drugs.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and best practices inside the pharmacy.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- B.Pharm / M.Pharm (mandatory).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in IP/Clinical Pharmacy.
- Experience in leading a pharmacy team preferred.
- Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS).
4. Key Skills Required
