Pharmacy Operations Specialist (Remote)

Overview

Sentara Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Operations Specialist to join our remote pharmacy team. In this role, you will support the daily operational functions of the pharmacy, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across medication management processes. You’ll collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and healthcare providers to maintain the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

Responsibilities

Support pharmacy operations by maintaining and reviewing prescription workflows, billing, and quality assurance documentation.

Assist with the coordination of medication orders, formulary management, and prior authorization processes.

Monitor and resolve operational issues related to inventory, data accuracy, and system updates.

Collaborate with internal teams to optimize pharmacy efficiency and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Generate and review operational reports to support data-driven improvements.

Provide excellent communication and service to patients, providers, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred.

Active Pharmacy Technician license in good standing (state-specific).

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.

2+ years of experience in pharmacy operations, data entry, or administrative support (retail, hospital, or mail-order setting).

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills.

Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and insurance processes.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

Pay

$30-$35 per hour
