UI Health Care Mission Cancer and Blood is seeking applicants for STUDENT INTERN positions located in Des Moines, IA.
Position Hours:
- Average 10 hours per week (up to 20 hours/week during classes, up to 40 hours/week over breaks)
- Primarily 3–5-hour shifts M-F between 0700-1800
- Some limited weekends and holidays may be available or required
- Preference for availability to work over summer and holiday breaks
- Work schedules are based on availability outside of class schedule
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Document and provide services consistent with established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements including but not limited to USP 797 and USP 800.
- Sterile compounding of medications requested for clinic and infusion services.
- Perform inventory maintenance activities.
- Generate and/or maintain appropriate records related to Prescription & patient-specific order sterile compounding.
- Perform activities involving narcotics and controlled substances.
- Maintain area orderliness and perform weekly and monthly cleaning responsibilities.
- Assist in on-the-job training of new technicians.
- Coordinate technical activities with other members of team.
- Assist pharmacist to facilitate pharmaceutical care to patients including but not limited to patient counseling, medication reconciliation, and clinical follow-up that is within scope of practice.
- Complete and maintain compliance with all competencies and education requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a P1-P4 student at Drake College of Pharmacy
- Must be enrolled as intern or pharmacy technician, trainee with Iowa Board of Pharmacy prior to commencement of employment.
