Job Responsibility : Dispensing Medication
Dispenses medication under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Action Steps:

Investigates medication related issues or missing doses as needed

Accurately calculates doses to ensure an adequate supply in automated dispensing cabinet (ADC)
-
Loads ADC in a timely and accurate manner according to max/min levels, adjusting for holidays and weekends
-
Delivers medications to patient units in a timely manner to ensure precise administration times
-
Replenishes unit floor stock medications
-
Prepares discharge medications for patients by counting, labeling, and packaging the medication
-
Conducts medication room inspections on a monthly basis and maintains up to date inspection logs
-
Investigates and compiles information for Pyxis override reports
-
Completes these tasks on a daily basis with an accuracy rate above 90%
-
Completes tasks accurately and efficiently based on observation by the pharmacy director

Job Responsibility: Maintains Pharmacy Inventory and Supplies
Assists pharmacist with inventory of medications, supplies, and helps stock medications according to pharmaceutical protocols and procedures.

Receives and stores incoming medications and supplies in correct locations

Rotates stock regularly, keeping notes of when medications and supplies expire

Monitors and replenishes stock in ADCs

Credits and returned items are processed within 72 hours

Accurately places returned medicines back in their appropriate locations

Checks for expired or short dated medications in ADCs and in med rooms

Appropriately labels bulk medication and supplies

Maintains a compliance rate of 90% based on weekly reviews of remaining credits and supplies that are not inventoried
