Pharmacy Technician -UAEN

  • Assist the licensed pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and labeling of medications in accordance with DOH regulations and facility policies.

  • Accurately receive, interpret, and process prescriptions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

  • Ensure correct medication selection, dosage form, strength, and quantity during dispensing, with final verification performed by the pharmacist.

  • Maintain proper documentation of prescriptions, patient profiles, and dispensing records as per DOH requirements.

  • Support medication stock management including receiving, checking, storing, and issuing pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

  • Monitor inventory levels and expiry dates; ensure timely removal of near-expiry or expired medications in line with regulatory standards.

  • Maintain appropriate storage conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity) for medications, including cold chain management.

  • Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounds, where applicable, under pharmacist supervision and in compliance with DOH guidelines.

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy, including adherence to infection control and safety standards.

  • Support controlled drug management processes including proper storage, record-keeping, and stock counts as per DOH regulations.

  • Participate in stock audits and assist in reconciliation of discrepancies.

  • Provide administrative support such as billing, insurance processing, and coordination with other departments when required.

  • Respond to patient or caregiver queries by directing them to the pharmacist for clinical advice.

  • Adhere strictly to patient confidentiality and data protection standards.

  • Comply with all DOH regulations, facility policies, quality standards, and accreditation requirements.

  • Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuous professional development as required.

8. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED


Education
  • Diploma/Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (minimum 3–4 years program)

Experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hospital/clinical pharmacy setting
  • Experience in specialized areas (e.g., IV compounding, inpatient pharmacy)

Certification and Licensure
  • Valid DOH Pharmacy Technician License or eligibility
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Job Specific Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of DOH regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Experience with JCI accreditation standards
