Photonics Engineer Intern

Job Overview
We are seeking a talented Photonics Engineer to develop photonic systems for holographic displays in our AI coffee machine project at BalanX Bio. The ideal candidate is passionate about photonics, has a strong technical background, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You will work closely with optical engineers, software developers, and designers to create highperformance light sources and sensors for holographic interfaces.

Duties

• Design and test laser systems and photonic devices for holographic projections.
• Optimize light sources and sensors for seamless hologram generation.
• Collaborate with software teams to integrate photonics with AI-driven interfaces.
• Validate photonic components for efficiency and compatibility with coffee machine designs.
• Troubleshoot photonic system issues to ensure reliable hologram performance.
• Stay updated on photonics and holography advancements to drive innovation.
• Document design processes and provide technical support to cross-functional teams.
• Ensure photonic systems align with project goals for interactive visualizations.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with laser technology, photonic devices, or holographic systems.
• Proficiency in photonic simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, COMSOL).
• Strong understanding of light-matter interactions and photonic integration.
• Familiarity with consumer electronics or display systems is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams

Preferred Skills

• Experience with holographic or AR/VR display systems.
• Knowledge of compact photonic systems for consumer products.
• Familiarity with AI-driven visualization pipelines.
• Portfolio showcasing photonic or holographic projects.
