Under the direction of the Director of Education and Student Services, the Physical Education Teacher provides physical and health education to positively influence students both mentally and physically. The PE teacher will prepare lessons while keeping students’ physical needs, apprehensions, and challenges in mind. The PE teacher will have the ability to motivate students to perform physical activities while making them competitive and cooperative at the same time.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:-
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health or related subject - Required

Appropriate CSDE Certification (#044 Physical Education, PK-12)

Or willingness to peruse and acquire this certification

Experience with teaching students in special education programs - Preferred but not required

Experience with developing a positive classroom culture/environment based on diverse student needs - Preferred but not required
SCHEDULE & RATE OF PAY:-
Monday-Friday 7:30am-2:30pm

$50,000-$64,000 per year

Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:-
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

Plans and facilitates opportunities for student competition and positive recreational activities.

Provide differentiated and integrated instruction in all academic content areas.

Provide differentiated and integrated assessment and evaluation strategies to support student learning.

Establish and support guidelines for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students.

Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect consistent with the school’s Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support Plans (PBIS).

Use technology to assist in developing, providing and supporting instruction for special education students.

Confer with administrators, social workers, and other professionals to implement IEPs designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social/emotional development.

Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities.
