Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Promotes and carries out the Southland’s mission and assume quality of care for all patients.
- Develops rapport with patients; striving to build a physician-patient partnership that facilitates marked familiarity with patient’s medical and treatment history, care needs and psychosocial factors as a means to manage patient’s risk factors and improve patient outcomes.
- Adheres to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
- Develops a plan of care for each patient which includes complete medical history, examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral that includes hospitalization when necessary.
- Participates in the clinical program of the organization according to the guidelines established for all staff physicians of similar training and board certification.
- Assist management in designing, implementing and evaluating educational programs for SHC patients and clinical staff.
- Responsible for directing and supervising clinical staff, as appropriate.
- Attends all ongoing trainings/meetings as well as team huddles at the clinic.
- Maintain an affiliation with professional groups, medical associations, and medical organizations, as per policies established and represent Southland SHC in all meetings of these associations and organizations.
- Participate in community health events, such as school screenings, health fairs, social and community events, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily complete job:
- At least three (3) years of medical practice and graduated from an accredited medical school with valid California Practice License.
- Board Certified Physician with current unrestricted DEA license and BLS/ACLS.
- Must have completed a Family Medicine Residency or Internal Medicine Residency.
- Interest in designing and evaluating an efficient health care system in a community health center setting is highly desirable.
- Ability to proceed on own initiative using independent judgment and discretion.
- Knowledge of medical practice and physician/patient protocols.
- Knowledge of computer technology, specifically electronic health records.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess leadership. Organizational skills, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to be proficient and timely with multiple deadlines.
- Must be bilingual, English and Vietnamese or Spanish.
