Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Physician Liaison to serve as a vital link between our healthcare providers and the organization. The ideal candidate will facilitate communication, foster strong relationships with medical professionals across various specialties, and support clinical operations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, healthcare systems, and clinical workflows, ensuring seamless coordination to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. The Physician Liaison will play a key role in promoting our services, supporting clinical research initiatives, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and NCQA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for physicians, specialists, and healthcare providers to promote collaboration and service utilization.
  • Facilitate communication regarding patient care plans, discharge planning, and follow-up procedures across inpatient, outpatient, and post-acute care settings.
  • Support clinical research activities by coordinating with investigators, managing documentation, and ensuring adherence to protocols.
  • Assist in the implementation of new programs such as telehealth services, interventional radiology procedures, or specialized care pathways like cardiology or neurology.
  • Educate providers on hospital services including diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, and other specialty areas such as endocrinology or rheumatology.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by managing sensitive medical records and patient information securely.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient assessments, care plans, and discharge processes.
  • Promote awareness of hospital capabilities in areas like Level I Trauma Center services, ICU care including neurocritical care or pediatric intensive care units (PICU), and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy or wound care.
  • Support community outreach efforts related to family medicine, geriatrics, maternal-fetal medicine, or addiction medicine to enhance patient engagement.

Experience

  • Prior experience working within a healthcare environment such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or specialized units like cardiology or pulmonology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or EMR platforms is essential for managing medical records and documentation workflows.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology across various specialties including orthopedics, oncology, infectious disease care, sleep medicine, or pediatric subspecialties is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting clinical research trials or participating in public health initiatives will be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and NCQA standards is required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with physicians across diverse disciplines such as emergency medicine, family practice, obstetrics/gynecology (Ob/Gyn), or internal medicine.
  • Background in medical office administration or patient service roles will be advantageous for coordinating provider interactions and facilitating smooth operations. Pay: $57,555.13 - $69,313.70 per year
