Job Overview:
To provide high-quality medical and rehabilitative care to Academy players, supporting their health, wellbeing, and athletic performance. The role is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, ensuring players are fit and in optimal condition for training, competition, and long-term development.
Job Responsibilities:
Injury Prevention

Conduct regular physical assessments of players to identify any potential injury risks.

Implement injury prevention programs tailored to the needs of the players.

Advise players on fitness, conditioning, recovery and rehabilitation strategies.
Injury Assessments and Treatments

Provide immediate first aid and medical treatment for injuries sustained during training sessions or matches.

Assess, diagnose, and treat sports-related injuries and conditions (e.g., strains, sprains, fractures, etc.).

Develop and execute individual rehabilitation programs for injured players.

Accompany and work with the player throughout the injury and recovery process.
Rehabilitation

Monitor and track the progress of players during rehabilitation phases
-
Work with the coaching staff to integrate rehabilitation exercises into the players' training regimes.

Provide guidance on return-to-play protocols, ensuring that players recover fully before returning to competitive play.

Work together with the return to play coach to support the players fitness during this recovery phase.
Record Keeping and Reporting

Maintain detailed medical records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress for each player.

Prepare injury reports and communicate with coaching and management teams about player health and readiness.

Daily work with treatment and injury records in the database.
Other
-
Ensure all continuous professional development and training courses are up to date and the minimum professional standards of the Performance Department are met.

Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, or a related sports science discipline, or equivalent practical experience

FIFA Guardian Safeguarding qualification or a commitment to obtain the qualification within a reasonable timeframe

Proven experience working within a professional football academy environment

Proficiency in delivering hands-on therapy techniques, including taping, soft tissue therapy, massage, and other injury management interventions

Ability to prepare and deliver warm-up routines, movement preparation, and activation exercises for players
-
Experience designing, implementing, and overseeing individualized rehabilitation programmes tailored to specific injuries and player needs
-
Ability to work collaboratively with medical doctors, sports scientists, nutritionists, coaches, and other performance staff to deliver integrated player care
-
Experience implementing injury prevention strategies and supporting the integration of rehabilitation plans into training programmes
-
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including injury assessments, treatment plans, rehabilitation progress reports, and return-to-play documentation
-
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with players, parents, coaches, and colleagues

Adaptability and willingness to work within a new cultural and professional environment, with an openness to learning about Saudi football and athlete development pathways

Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is advantageous
-
Fluency in English, with Arabic language skills considered an advantage
