Placement Lead
Hartford, NYC, Stamford or Philadelphia
The Ceded Reinsurance Placement Team is responsible for the purchase and the management of the global reinsurance programs at AXA XL, working closely with AXA XL’s underwriting teams, legal entities, Regional and Global Leadership Teams, and Risk Management colleagues to understand AXA XL’s risk appetite limits and how to meet them.
The Ceded Reinsurance placement team works across all business lines. The portfolio is all Treaty business with an equal split between Quota Share and Excess of Loss
What you’ll be DOING
What will your essential responsibilities include?

Support the placement process for key reinsurance placements (submission preparation, contract review, contract negotiation, handover to Ceded Re operations etc.).

Participate in negotiations to secure competitive terms, structure and pricing.

Help ensure contracts reflect negotiated terms, comprehensive coverage and market leading terms and conditions.

Help ensure negotiations conclude successfully on or before treaty inception.

Contribute relationships inside and outside the enterprise to understand and foster their business objectives.

Help ensure that all related parties understand the programs, from operational through to underwriting.

Serve as a key member of the Ceded Reinsurance Placement Team.

Liaise & collaborate on an on-going basis with other Ceded Re teams (placement, operations) and AXA XL/AXA Group stakeholders to encourage innovation and continuous improvement for the placements process and approach.

Participate in strategic projects as they arise, take on lead and back-up roles as deemed appropriate.

Stay up to date on coverage and legal trends to help ensure contracts protect the company from adverse or unexpected loss.

Required Skills and Abilities:

First Reinsurance experience is essential for this role and previous experience of Ceded Reinsurance is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of Reinsurance contract wordings including formation and interpretation.
- Able to contribute to data and analytical skills for the ability to manage large submission data sets.
- Appreciate capital modelling and actuarial analysis in the purchase of reinsurance is beneficial.
- Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate reinsurance business externally.
- Able to work across a global team; showing collaboration with peers and other team members.
- Mental Agility: Innovative thinker, willing to turn ideas on their head. Capable of handling complex situations.
- Knowledge of Specialty, Property and Casualty Insurance and Reinsurance.

Technical orientation.

Ability to work to tight placement process deadlines to ensure placement is completed in a timely fashion.
- Some travel required including domestic and international.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $92,600 to $145,500 USD.
Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
