SALARY: $43,888 annually (Includes generous benefits)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Week 1: Sunday 12:15-5:15; Monday-off; Tuesday 8:30-5:30; Wednesday 11:15-8:15; Thursday 8:30-5:30; Friday 8:30-5 or 9-6; Saturday-off.

Week 2: Sunday-off; Monday 8:30-5:30; Tuesday 8:30-5:30; Wednesday 11:15-8:15; Thursday 8:30-5:30; Friday 8:30-5 or 9-6; Saturday-off.

Week 3: Sunday-off; Monday 8:30-5:30; Tuesday 8:30-5:30; Wednesday 11:15-8:15; Thursday 8:30-5:30; Friday-off; Saturday 9:15-5:15.

(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes, may be asked to work other times as needed.)

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Education with a Master’s degree in a related field required. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Creates, promotes and presents innovative programs for the Planetarium workspaces and at off-site locations

· Trains staff to present programs in Planetarium workspaces

· Assists the Director of the Planetarium in managing the day-to-day operations of the Planetarium and its systems

· Prepares and finalizes video presentations using video editing software

· Provides exceptional customer service to all age groups while assisting patrons with questions in person, over the phone, or electronically

· Prepares and maintains Planetarium exhibits

· Tracks and submits program statistics

· Responsible for maintaining an attractive and engaging environment in the Planetarium workspaces

· Participates in department meetings, assigned committee meetings, and online discussions

· Attends regular training related to adult services and other library work

· Constantly remains aware of safety and security

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Science or Education with a Master’s degree in a related field required

· Proficiency, comfort, and experience preparing and presenting educational programs to individuals and large groups

· Experience in formal and informal education environments preferred

· Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues in a technical environment

· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

· Good time management skills and attention to detail

· Ability to take direction and work independently or in a team environment

· Proven experience in collaborating with others to provide proper service and programs for the public

· SCPL uses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees may be required to use their personal device for MFA.

· Valid Driver’s license with the ability to drive to other locations to provide STEAM programs
