Planning & Cost Engineer

Job Summary

The Planning and Cost Control Engineer is responsible for integrating project planning and cost control functions to ensure timely project execution and effective budget management. Duties include developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring project progress, preparing cost estimates and budgets, analyzing schedule and cost variances, coordinating with project teams for updates, and preparing comprehensive reports for management. The role requires strong expertise in project planning and cost control methodologies, proficiency in scheduling and cost management software (Primavera P6 or MS Project), analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project planning and cost control within the construction, oil & gas, or engineering industry.
• Proficient in project planning and cost management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and cost control systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and numerical skills, with the ability to manage multiple project data streams effectively.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach to project management.
• Must have valid residency in Kuwait

Roles and Responsibilities

• Project Scheduling and Planning: Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using planning software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
• Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track and evaluate project progress against the baseline schedule and budget, identifying delays or deviations, and prepare regular progress and variance reports for management review.
• Cost Estimation and Budget Preparation: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for materials, labor, and equipment based on project scope, design documents, and historical data to ensure financial control.
• Cost Control and Analysis: Monitor project expenditures, analyze cost variances, and prepare cost performance reports to support informed decision-making and maintain financial discipline throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordination with Project Teams: Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather schedule and cost data, validate progress updates, and ensure consistency across all project control functions.
• Documentation and Data Management: Maintain organized records of project schedules, cost data, change orders, and progress reports to support project audits, reviews, and management reporting requirements.
