We are seeking a Planning & Design Expert (Power) to lead the planning, design, and technical evaluation of all power-related projects across our motorway zones. The candidate will ensure that all power systems including solar, diesel generators, UPS, batteries, and low-voltage panels are designed, implemented, and optimized in line with operational requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and design of power systems for toll plazas, including solar systems, LV panels, diesel generators, UPS, batteries, and other power protection systems.
- Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical assessments to support power system planning and design.
- Develop technical specifications, layout drawings, and system designs for new installations and upgrades.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including O&M, procurement, and project execution, to ensure designs are practical and maintainable.
- Optimize power systems for energy efficiency, load management, and reliability.
- Evaluate existing power systems, identify deficiencies, and propose design improvements or upgrades.
- Support commissioning, testing, and validation of newly installed or upgraded power systems.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of power system designs, standards, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and training to power technicians and O&M staff regarding system design, operation, and preventive maintenance.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as DISCOs, WAPDA, and equipment vendors for design approval, coordination, and technical support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in power system planning, design, or O&M for infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience with power system installation, operation, and optimization.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, train personnel, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with power system design including Solar PV, LV Panels, Diesel Generators, UPS, Batteries, and power protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of fault detection and rectification across transformers, generators, cabling, solar systems, and UPS.
- Proficient in creating technical drawings, load calculations, and energy distribution plans.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and operational requirements for power systems.
- Ability to provide clear technical guidance to teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
