Job Overview:

The Planning Engineer plays a key role in ensuring effective planning, monitoring, and control of all IX (Instrumentation, Controls, SCADA) engineering and project activities. The role involves developing detailed project schedules, tracking progress, coordinating with cross-functional teams (PMT, Procurement, T&C, and SC), and ensuring timely and efficient project delivery in line with approved timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for IX deliverables using Primavera/ZOHO.
  • Integrate engineering and procurement (Vendor Quotes, RFQs, IRs and PO issuance to vendors) activities into the master schedule in coordination with PMT.
  • Define project dependencies, and critical paths to ensure timely completion of critical tasks.
  • Forecast engineering resource needs and highlight constraints in advance.

2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track progress of engineering deliverables against the baseline schedule.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports/alerts impacting milestone delays, re-works and schedule variance to IX delivery leads for recovery strategies.
  • Participate and support project review meetings (PMC,IX-PMT review meetings) with data-driven insights on progress, delays, and resource utilization.
  • Monitoring of progress of all critical action items identified during coordination and progress review meetings.

3. Coordination & Interface Management

  • Coordinate with Engineering Leads to ensure timely delivery of all agreed deliverables e.g. design documents, import requestions, QA/QC documents, Testing procedures, drawing packages.
  • Interface with T&C for RW assignments for iFAT/FAT/T&C and Procurement teams to ensure planning continuity across project lifecycle.

4. Risk Management & Mitigation

  • Identify schedule-related risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Proactively monitor high-risk areas and propose corrective actions.

5. Process Improvement & Governance

  • Monitoring and dashboard for IX KPIs monitoring
  • Monthly hours data to accounts and EPR monitoring for all IX sub departments
  • Participation in RFG meetings, tracking of action items with IX manager and HR, Dashboard update including forecast and T&C hours data
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls and reporting automation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics / Control Systems or related field)
  • Project Planning or Project Controls certification is an added advantage
  • 1-3 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, and control for engineering or EPC projects
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and/or ZOHO for project scheduling and progress tracking
  • Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, testing & commissioning, and project management teams
  • Exposure to Instrumentation, Controls, and SCADA (IX) projects across the project lifecycle
